Summer Camps

New World Kids I: The Next Literacy

The Aldrich invites children aged five and six to participate in New World Kids, a two-week summer program focused on building creative thinkers. The participating children will explore a new way of looking at and understanding the world around them, and their parents will learn about the individual strengths that will help their children to learn productively for a future that will require visual literacy skills and innovation.

New World Kids I: The Next Literacy (Ages 5 and 6)
Monday, July 16, through Friday, July 27; 9:30 am to 12 noon

Art Daze (Ages 4 to 14)

Art Daze The Aldrich Museum's summer workshop program, offers hands-on art-making opportunities for three age groups. Participants work directly with a different artist each week to experience a variety of media, techniques, and styles. They discover how to unleash their creative talents as they design, create, build, and have fun with their peers in a museum setting. By working closely with our visiting artists and educators, children learn new and different ways to develop ideas and to make artwork.

The summer workshops take place on two mornings a week for ages four to six; three afternoons a week for ages seven to ten; and on Fridays for ages eleven to fourteen. There are three weeks of programming for ages four to ten, and four weeks of programming for ages eleven to fourteen.

Come and enjoy the Museum with your child at Aldrich Buddies! This program introduces The Aldrich's youngest visitors to contemporary art. Accompanied by a parent, grandparent, or a caretaker, children aged three to five discover the artwork in our galleries, led by a Museum educator. Gallery games and questions are followed by the reading of a storybook that relates to the artwork—its materials, concepts, methods, or its subject matter. Everyone then participates in making an art project that is inspired by the artwork, the storybook, or both. What you learn will enable you both to share your experiences at The Aldrich long after the program has ended!

Please note, the fee includes one child with caregiver. You are welcome to bring more than one child at an additional fee of $5 per session per child. Online registration is not available for more than one child; please contact Michelle Friedman: mfriedman@aldrichart.org, 203.438.4519 extension 46 during regular Museum hours to complete your registration.

Check the events calendar for the next upcoming session.
